NEW DELHI, Aug 24: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi to discuss the expansion and strengthening of healthcare services in the state.

The meeting focused on healthcare development and measures to improve medical facilities and access to treatment, according to reports on the August 24 meeting.

The discussions come as states continue to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure and expand access to specialised medical services.

Focus on improving health infrastructure

The state government has been working to improve healthcare availability across urban and rural areas, with emphasis on strengthening medical institutions and ensuring patients can access treatment closer to their homes.

Expanding infrastructure is particularly important for districts where residents have traditionally had to travel to larger cities for specialised care.

Centre-state coordination gains importance

Healthcare delivery in India involves close coordination between the Union government and state administrations, particularly in areas involving infrastructure, medical education, public health programmes and access to specialised services.

The meeting between Sai and Nadda reflects the importance of this cooperation as Chhattisgarh seeks to expand its healthcare capacity.

Greater investment in hospitals, diagnostic facilities and trained medical personnel could help improve access to quality treatment, particularly in underserved parts of the state.

The discussions also come amid a broader national push to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and develop more accessible and technology-enabled medical services.
