India, Aug. 21: Arsenal begin their Premier League title defence on Friday as the new season gets underway, with the London club facing increased pressure after establishing themselves as the team to beat.
After years of chasing the league leaders, Arsenal enter the campaign in a different position. Their status as defending champions means opponents will approach every fixture with added motivation, while manager Mikel Arteta will be expected to maintain the side’s consistency throughout a demanding season.
The opening weekend marks the start of another intense battle for the Premier League crown, with several established clubs strengthening their squads during the summer transfer window. Arsenal will therefore have to deal with competition from teams seeking to close the gap.
The club’s challenge will extend beyond maintaining their domestic position, as a demanding schedule could test the depth and fitness of the squad. Managing key players across league and European commitments is likely to be crucial to their ambitions.
For Arsenal, the opening fixture represents the first opportunity to demonstrate that last season’s success was not a one off achievement. A strong start could provide early momentum in their bid to retain the championship.
