NEW DELHI, Aug 29: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for candidates who appeared in 84 subjects, providing relief to thousands of aspirants awaiting their eligibility and fellowship status.

Candidates can access their scorecards through the official examination portal using their login credentials. The agency has also released subject-wise and category wise cut offs along with the result information.

According to the results, more than 1.47 lakh candidates have qualified in the examination. The overall qualification rate was reported at around 24.31 per cent among the candidates covered by the declared results.

The examination determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programmes, depending on the candidate’s performance and applicable eligibility criteria.

However, the result announcement does not cover all subjects included in the June examination cycle. NTA had decided to conduct the papers for English, Commerce and Sociology again following issues associated with the earlier examination process. The three papers are scheduled for re-examination in September.

Candidates who appeared in the 84 subjects can now check their individual scores, qualification status and applicable cut-off marks. The result is expected to help successful candidates move forward with research, teaching and doctoral admission opportunities.

The UGC-NET examination is conducted twice a year to assess candidates seeking eligibility for academic and research opportunities in Indian higher education institutions.

The latest result comes amid broader efforts to improve the country’s examination system following concerns over the conduct and management of several major entrance and eligibility tests.

The Centre has also invited suggestions from students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders as part of a wider exercise to make public examinations more secure, transparent and student friendly.

The developments are being closely watched by candidates as examination authorities continue to work on reforms aimed at improving reliability, transparency and confidence in large scale testing.
