KOLKATA, Aug 11: At least 24 girl students of a school in Kolkata were hospitalised after falling ill on Monday night, officials said.
The students were taken to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital for medical attention following the incident. Authorities were monitoring their condition while efforts were underway to determine what led to the students becoming unwell.
The incident prompted an immediate response from school authorities and local officials, with the affected students receiving treatment at the hospital.
The hospitalisation of a large number of students from the same institution has raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the episode. Officials are expected to assess the available information and determine whether the students’ illness was linked to a common cause.
Medical teams continued to examine the students after they were brought to the hospital. Further details regarding their health condition and the cause of the incident were awaited.
Authorities are likely to review the circumstances at the school as part of efforts to establish what triggered the illness and ensure the safety of other students.
